While we highly recommend ironing on patches using our iron-on instructions, we realize that patches sometimes don't "stick" as well as they should.
We've searched and tried many kinds of adhesive and glues for patches and costuming.
The very best we have found is Mighty Mendit. Yes, that's right. The stuff Billy Mayes sells on TV. What can we say? This stuff works. This stuff really, really works. It does what it says and we believe it in.
While there are many places you can find this (Walgreens, Target, Bed Bath & Beyond...), we know you may not be able to find it in your area. Use the link, below, to link to a site where you can purchase it online.
How to use Mighty Mendit:
- Try ironing on the patch. It will probably stick pretty well if you follow our instructions. Got it?
- Now, after you've ironed on the patch and let it cool, gently lift up the merrowed edge (the embroidered border) and run a bead of Mighty Mendit around the border.
- Gently press down and quickly wipe up any access using a wet paper towel or wet cloth.
- Let it dry at least 2 hours before wearing.
That's it!
Don't want to iron on your patch? Try this:
- Turn your patch over (face down) and run a thin bead of Mighty Mendit around the edge of the patch.
- Then, using a zig-zag motion, run one or two lines of Mighty Mendit through the middle of the patch.
- Position your patch on your garment EXACTLY where you want it and press down gently. Quickly wipe away any glue that oozes out using a wet paper towel or wet cloth.
- Let it dry at least 2 hours before wearing.
